Waiting on my little man!

As of today I am 33weeks and 3days pregnant with my little miracle Ethan! I cannot wait until his arrival! It has been such a long. hard, scary road to get us to this point and I feel like now we are finally about to make it to our destination!

I went to the reg ob today and things are well! I found out that the main reason for my lower back pain, blood in my urine, and the horrible pinching/stabbing pain in my side is all due to my little one! The dr said because of the way the baby is positioned that the pain is going to be nonstop until he either decides to move or is delivered (oh joy lol) he said that the baby is laying directly on top of one of my nerves and that is mainly what is causing all of the pain. My belly is still measuring ahead and Ethan's heartbest is still excellent. At this appt I weighed in at +3lbs so I am back up to a total of +9 for the total pregnancy. Dr Bland also told me that I should expect to gain at least 1 to 2 lbs weekly now because this is the time that lil man will be putting on all of his weight! The biggest news of all.....i was written out of work completely!!!!!! Im so glad! I can now take it easy at home and finish doing all the little things I wanna get done before Ethan arrives (like cleaning out the fridge lol)

Today my sister informed me that she thinks I will be having Ethan alot sooner than we all think (she says she had a dream) and my grandma and I both made our guesses on how much Ethan will weigh when he is born. Grandma says her guess is 6lb 3oz, my guess is 7lb 2oz, and Greg just put in his guess...9lbs 8oz! Greg is guessing we will be having a really big boy!

L&D scare

Well, on Fri I was working at a high school blood drive out in monroe (about a hr away from my job and hospital) I was in phlebotomy for the beginning of the day and began to get severe pain in my lower back, so I assumed it was from all the standing, bending, squatting, and lifting of chairs(when a donor has a reaction we have to lift the chair back with them in it,so that they are eleveated) well, I asked to be removed form phlebotomy since I was in such severe pain and I was moved to history where I was able to sit. After sitting in history for about a hr I realized that the lower back pain was getting much worse and I was starting to have pressure in my lower stomach. I told one of my co workers, and as soon as she asked if I was having contractions, BAM! One hit! She went and got my bosses (there were 4 there bc of it being a big drive) and they came over and told me to call my dr bc of the pain/pressure/contraction. So I called and he said to meet him at the office (which oonce again is a hr away from where I was) so I told my bosses and they called to have someone come pick me up (we just get dropped off at the sites, and then picked back up at the end of the day when we are on lg drives) so I waited and waited, and 2hrs went by. Still no one there to get me. So they called again and he said he was almost there. He (mike, the driver) finally arrived and did we leave right away? NO. I had to wait on them to organize the blood coolers and count it all before we could go. We finally left and there was no way I would make it to the dr office before close and so i called them back and they told me to go to L&d and the the on call dr would meet me there. When I finally arrived, I had to do the urine test, and was put on monitors. They were tracking 6 contractions a hr, so they just gave me lots of water and elevated my feet. then they came in and said they foudn portein in my urine (they said thats normal) and they found some amionic fluid in the urine (they said it means im leaking fluid) and they found blood. So I was sent to get a u/s done and then when I got back to my room I got the results. Nothing wrong with my kidneys and my bladder, so they are not sure why there is blood in there? My dr came in and talked with me a few mins and then did a exam. She said that I am 2cm dialated and that I was leaking fluid but it was not busted. Then she says "oh theres his head" my response..."what?" "yea i felt the top of his head. I really didnt want to hear that and it freaked me out a bit. But dr said she though everything was ok and that I just need to stay off my feet as much as possible. So the dr wrote a note to my job that I am now only aloud to work 4hrs a day and 5days a week. She also informed me I am now on "modified bedrest" I go into my reg dr on thur and she said he might take me out of work all together then but she wasnt really sure, they would see how the week went. i was then discharged and came home to go to bed.

Sat, I had a bit of bleeding, but I called and they said it was ok unless there was alot or it was bright pink.

Here I am sun afternoon, and I am still having bad pains in my lower back and i am also achy all over. But, its managable, not nearly as bad as it was fri! I guess, i will find out more on thur? Im hoping at least! I will update thur night!!

Baby Shower!

I finally had my baby shower this past Sat (9-12) and it went very well! I got tons and tons of stuff for Ethan! I can proudly say that we are ready for his arrival!! His room is all set up and decorated and the house is "baby proof" we have scrubbed and scrubbed and it is finally to my liking!

We had a baby shower at work today for myself, crystal, and lashauna. I gotta say I was a little bit surprised. The only people that participated was the ones throwing it :( over 100 employees and only 4 people joined in. But it was still nice of them none the less! I was a bit disappointed that no one waited on me. They had the actual shower with crystal and lashauna while I was out on a blood drive and didn't even save me a peice of cake :( oh well! I got presents!

Work is killing me yet again, I am working like a dog and no one at work seems to truely care. I keep getting comments like "isnt it about time for your dr to write you out" and " wow your so big, I cant believe your still working" Well damn it if Im so big and you dont think I should be working..why am i having to work soooo hard? Shouldn't you be helping me if your SO concerened? Guess not!

Greg is doing well,he is a bit tired and cranky but well none the less! And the most important of all...Ethan! He is very active still. I think he really enjoys seeing where he can push out the most lol everyday he is pushing here and there and if it doesnt stretch enough he will kick it! He already has such a personality, I can't wait to finally meet him! Only 5 weeks to go!

This and that!

Once again I am a few days late posting about what went on this week, things just seem to keep getting busier and busier!
We met the neurosurgeon on this past tue. I really wasnt impressed. Actually I was really pissed off. All the other Drs kept telling me that the neuro could answer all my questions the best and would be of so much help. The neuro was a waste of my blessed $50! Oh well. I found out it will be one of 3 neuros that will do Ethan's surgery not the one they told me. I also found out that they can't answer my questions any better than any of the other Drs and actually he was more vage than the others. The only thing he could actually answer for us was that Ethan will have to be under general anestisa and will be intibated during the surgery (this terrifies me) but I guess I have no other choice, it's what has to be done for my little boy. Other than that we didnt find out anything.

I met my new OB today..I really like him! He takes time out to talk to me and get to know my past and present and what im looking for in the future! He answered a good deal of questions and seemed down to earth and VERY intelligent! I love it! I am more comfortable with him doing my c section than I am with anyone else. I NEVER thought I would be comfortable with a male ob (which it is still a bit odd but its ok!) The did the heartbeat check and it was in the 140's today he measured my belly and it is still measuring a bit big but he said it is ok. I also found out that he will take mw out of work at 36 weeks which is exactly one week before my little miricale will arrive!

Ethan's room has really come along! We have his crib set up,a rocker,a dresser, and a changing area. I will post pictures once it is completely finished! I should be done tomm night! My baby shower is tomm and I will get my crib beding I know and what else im not sure, but im soooo ready to put the bedding in the crib!

I am have been extremely tired the past few days, and very uncomfortable. My mother in law keeps telling me it only gets worse form here on out, and I really am tring not to believe her! I hope it doesnt get more uncomfortable! I already can't breathe or walk or even sit lol Im huge! But its all worth it!!! I would go through hell and back to have this baby boy!

Well, Im going to end it for the night.Ill be back soon to tell ya all about the baby shower! And hopefully Ill have good pics of that too!!!

Lots of News! Big post sorry!

Lots of things have been going on in the past few days and I really haven't had a chance to update until now. So here it goes!

I went to my reg ob on thur (9-3) and things went okay. My bp is still high and still being "watched" but not being diagnosised still with hypertension. My belly is measuring a little big but the Dr said she wont change my due date unless I get to 3cm too big (rigt now Im at 2cm too big) but to be honest, even if she changes my due date it wont matter. They arent going to do my c section before its scheduled time (10-20) at 37 weeks. I also found out that the blood work from my 28 week labs showed that I was extremely low on my iron and platelet counts. They did the blood work again, and I was still low but not alarmingly low this time so its another thing they are just going to keep a key on for now. They checked Ethan's heartbeat and it was a strong 135.

On Fri (9-4) we went to the mfm specialist, this appt went excellent! We saw a diff dr than usual but he was very nice and seemed to be very through. This Dr said that Ethan's ventricles still are looking good. He said that they are borderline measuring at 11cm (apparently 12cm is the beginging of hydrocephalus) but the Dr said that there doesn't seem to be any excess fluid in there which is great! He also said that the crebelum is measuring at 10cm which is pretty good, he said that he doesn't think that he definatly has Chiari he said there is what seems to be a small case of it but if it really is there it is not bad at all and shouldn't affect anything. Moving down the back, he said that the "sac" is measuring 1/2 a inch which is a bit bigger than the last appt but he said this was to be expected because of him growing. He also said that he thought the spina bifida was more in the sacral region than the lumbar. He asked me where the other Drs have been telling me it was and I told him at the very first appt they said S2 and from the 2nd appt on they've said L4. He said not to count on what any of them tell us because it is very hard to tell through a ultrasound and that we will know best after Ethan is born. He also said that the way Ethan was positioned at the time made it hard to tell. He then made a statement that shocked Greg and myself: "If you were coming here today to get a diagnosis of spina bifida I would not diagnosis it because this baaby soes not have clubbed feet or legs,he has a normal brain,he does not have a cleft lip or palet and the defect is very small and low on his back" he went on to say that we do know he hass spina bifida but id it wasnt for the previous ultrasounds that weve had he wouldnt be sure. I was very happy and optimistic with the news, but I am not putting all my beliefs or hopes into what he told me, just like I dont with all the other Drs. I firmly believe that it is all in God's plan, however Ethan is meant to be is how he is going to be!
I was referred to the Dr that is going to do my c-section (Dr Bland) I will be meeting him for the first time on Fri (9-11) I am excited to meet him, he seems wonderful! I've heard great things about him and he went out of his wa and called me himself to introduce himself! I have NEVER heard of a Dr calling his/her patients just to say hi this is who I am and I cant wait to meet you!

Sat, I got a call from my mother in law saying that Greg' Aunt Gail was at a yard sale and I needed to go up there and look at a carseat, so I went up there and it as the exact carseat that I wanted! I paid $30 for it and it was in excellent condition! The lady bought it back in Jan and said she only used it a couple of months! I brought it home and took it apart and wash and sanatized it and you would never even know it's used! WHOO HOO! lol

Sun, I went to work (first day since wed) while at work I went to the restroom and I lost my mucus plug. This scared the sh*t out of me. I called and talked to my Dr and I was told that this happens from time to time and it doesn't ness. mean that I am going to go into labor. The Dr said that since there was any blood and I am not having any mojor contractions that things should be ok, just to stay off my feet and get fplanty of fluids for the next few days. Since the office was closed yesterday and today I am supposed to call them tomm and update them on my condition unless I lose more mucus or I have contractions or anything. Then I am supposed to go to Labor and Delivery and call them while Im on my way. I am not going to lie I am pretty worried about this, at the appt fri when they measure Ethan on the ultrasound they said he was weighing in at 3lbs 5oz and I know his lungs cant be mature at this point. I want my lil man to bake a few more weeks so he can come out as healthy as possible!

Well I go to the neurosergon tomm (9-8) and we will be talking about the surgery and what all to expect with the surgeon. So I will get back on here tomm night and update everyone!
